Resort 2017

Looks I love:  Giamba Pineapples, parrots, flamingos, and tigers oh my…and ruby slippers? “You’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself” (The Wizard of Oz).  Valentino This collection is inspired by Cuba.  I adore this contrast of masculine / feminine.  Butterfly in Spanish is mariposa ~ farfalla in Italian.  I am in love with this intricate floral detail.  The beading on this dress is beautiful. And the colors are so rich.  Givenchy Attention birdwatchers and more importantly ~ style-watchers. Theres definitely a bird here. At first glance I assumed it was a parrot, but now I am pretty sure its a peacock. Maybe use your binoculars for a closer look.  Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini  I love the combination of prints here. For some reason this collection gives me a nautical Peter Pan/ Pirate vibe ~ in a good way. It evokes a sense of dreaming and fairytales.  Zimmermann Love these delicate florals. So feminine.  Fendi Gucci Beautiful Chinese porcelain print. I love the direction Alessandro Michele has taken Gucci …

Doing & Being

I have decided to make a blog post about what I want to do in my future. Featured in this post are two pieces that I designed and created in school. The first is a vest with beaded details and the second is a Chanel inspired circle skirt. Also featured is three vintage pieces mixed in: a lace victorian top, a beaded purse, and a Christian Dior skirt.  Lately, a lot of people in my life have been asking me, what do you want to do? I am on the path to receive a bachelors degree in Fashion Design at Otis College of Art and Design. In the future I would love to design for a fashion house, or have my own clothing line. My absolute dream is to be the creative director of Chloé.  To me, fashion is more than just beautiful pieces of clothing. It tells a story. It gives abstract ideas physical shape. It defines the timeless beauty of a woman, of freedom. Through it, I express my soul and vision for life. As important …

Golden Light

Photography by Lindsey Englander Featuring Truly Blessed Jewels, a 1970’s vintage denim jumpsuit, Isabel Marant sunglasses, a Blue Life bikini, and a worn out vintage tee. I love my Truly Blessed Jewels because they sparkle in the sun, just as the sun sparkles on the sea – one of my favorite things.  “I see life in rosy hues. He tells me words of love, Words of every day, And in them I become something.” “Je vois la vie en rose Il me dit des mots d’amour Des mots de tous les jours Et ça me fait quelque chose.“ – “La Vie en Rose,” Édith Piaf “So let’s go and get it Everything we’ve been dreaming So let’s go and get it All the things we’ve been missing” -“Laser Gun,” M83 “Taken by the sky Dreams unwind Love’s a state of mind Dreams unwind” – “Rhiannon,” Fleedwood Mac “A place where dreams are made like comic strips I see colours and planes, laser guns and champagne I feel strong and smart, ready for a new start” …

Dark Necessities

Recently, I was looking through old pictures with my family and found this photo of my mom. I fell in love with her look here. It is effortless, but cool. Innocent, but wild. And I find it very funny that she is sitting on a trashcan. My mom told me that she had these vans custom made, they were baby blue and brown.  This outfit post is inspired by this photo: wearing my mom’s vintage 1950’s motorcycle jacket that she got in the 80’s, vintage Levis, and hightop Vans.  This week I have been listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers a lot, pretty much constantly.  I love their new song “Dark Necessities.” “The darkness helps to sort the shine.”  I have an obsession with juxtapositions. I feel that we need a bit of trouble in our lives in order to sort out what is really good.  “I saw your face Elegant and tired Cut up from the chase Still I so admired Bloodshot your smile Delicate and wild Give me shewolf style Rip right thru me” – …

Freedom Lies in Fashion and Identity

People may wonder, was it the clothing that brought more freedom for women, or were it the events that were happening that led to this newfound sense of independence; it was both. During the 1920’s, women wanted more freedom and equality, which is something women are still fighting for today. Women began to break free from social constraints and disrupt order. This disruption of order gave more focus to the individual. Post WWI was a prosperous era, with changing roles in society. It was a time of revolution and women began to gain more freedom than ever before. The rise of women’s independence affected the way women formed their identities, their personal style, and attitude, which was expressed through major shifts in fashion. These changes lead to the formation of the modern woman and are still prevalent in postmodern and contemporary fashion and culture. Events in culture shift the boundaries of fashion and in our own search for identity; style becomes a key way of communicating who we are. We form our identities through what …

My own personal wonderland is a place of infinite possibility that exists in my head. It is a place where I felt completely free to think without worrying about time or other people’s perceptions. In my own personal wonderland, I have many colorful ideas that float through my mind, waiting to be brought to reality, but sadly there is not enough time or energy to create everything that I want, so they stay there. I have so many ideas for what I want to create that I get overwhelmed by them and sometimes it feels like these ideas weigh me down because I cannot always bring all of them to life in the way that I want. Despite this feeling, to me it is a beautiful place. It is a place of renewal and stimulation. It looks different everyday, but there are constant ideas that remain. It is filled with layers of myself, of my subconscious, and it is decorated with things that influence me. As an artist I am inspired by things that I …
