These images were created from a glitch on my desktop. The combinations are random and there are infinite possibilities, much like life, and my imagination. I have always had a habit of being drawn to things from the past fashion wise. I love collecting vintage pieces. As I have matured, I have realized that while it is okay to be inspired by things from the past, I must create something new from it. Everything in fashion is a cycle. What is old becomes new again, but I must strive to create something never done before. As an artist I collect things that influence my work and through this collection of ideas, things, art, clothing, etc., I create something authentic and new. No individual can create exactly the same. Growing up in a generation surrounded by technology, most of our inspiration comes from things that we find on the Internet. As young women, we are flooded with pictures of what we are told we should look like, a perfection that we hold ourselves to, a perfection that does not exist. To be beautiful means to be oneself, including flaws. The images I have created suggest a loss of humanity in technology, but in doing so, it creates a world that is entirely new – a bold shift. Today we ask ourselves the question, what is real? Often times we do not know the answer and that is okay. Our confusion stems from these things we see, but cannot see, things we feel, but cannot feel. The Internet world has infinite possibilities. Our minds do as well, and so our dreams. There is a connection between the two, and I must make it physical, real, through my art. More than anything, I feel inspired by the thought that there are infinite possibilities for this life, and this world, we constantly evolve, and prove that life is magic. It gives me hope. Sometimes, when I am driving and listening to my favorite music, I smile and am thankful because I am alive. As much as I like to control my environment and make choices for myself, I never know what could happen. One random moment can change everything. These images represent my evolution and change as I enter adulthood. Reality hits me, everything is unpredictable, but I still hold onto my world. We may never know some of the answers to the questions we have, and maybe we are not meant to. Life is constantly in motion, constantly changing, flowing, and so my mind.
